A Set of Four Rococo Side Chairs. Central European, ca 1750
A set of four Rococo walnut and ebony quatrefoil premiere and contre-partie marquetry side chairs - part of a larger set -, with masterful all over serpentine contours, with distinctive "line and dot" marquetry inlay. Central European, possibly Russian, ca 1750. The distinctive Bohemian form, including hoof feet, splat grab scroll and quatrefoil-all over marquetry is derived from the Neuwied School. A possible attribution to the Strassbourg area has been suggested. W 19.5 IN H 39.5 IN 17.25 IN. Ref. # FS004
